Our Primary Program

First of all, I have to note that in last weeks post, I forgot to add my favorite fall picture of the kids. So I am adding that now. . .
I just love this picture!
So, onto the title of my blog. . . Our Primary Program. Last Sunday was our ward’s annual primary program. Every one that was involved had obviously put a lot of time and effort into making sure that it went well.
One Sunday, several weeks before the scheduled program, Collin was given a part assignment. It went like this … “I love the story about how Jesus...” I was a little nervous about his assignment because although we pray and are active in church, I don’t remember telling Collin any really specific stories about Jesus. So, we started talking about it and I went online to lds.org where they have scripture stories online like the ones I used to watch as a film strip as a kid. I thought that he’d chosen the story when Jesus taught his followers how to pray, and after that, honestly, I’d forgotten all about it.
The primary was going to have a program practice on Sunday, the 19th of October and the Saturday before the program. Luckily I remembered in time for Collin to be able to memorize his part in time for the practice. By this time, he’s decided that he liked the story of Jesus calming the sea of Galilee. He changed his part at bit so it went like this... “I love the stories of Jesus. Jesus calmed the sea of Galilee.” Before Sacrament Meeting started, (the day of the practice, not the actual program) Collin saw the Bishop and kept calling to him, “Bishop, Bishop!” to him until he recognized Collin, at which point Collin proceeded to tell the Bishop his part for the program.
Through out that next week, whenever I thought about it, I’d ask Collin to say his part. Come the day of the program, he was so excited. When it was his turn, he spoke clearly and perfectly, saying his part without at problem. When he was finished and had returned to his seat, he yelled “Did you hear me?” at which point from the overflow area of the chapel where we were sitting, his two-year old sister yelled back “Yeah, do good okay?” We laughed and had a few members of the congregation look our way and chuckle. It was pretty funny.
